What is the Chathams eBook Library?
Chathams eBook Library is a web site that allows patrons to borrow electronic books (eBooks). eBooks you borrow are time-limited and expire when your borrow period ends. Once expired, another patron may borrow the eBook.
Who can borrow from the Chathams eBook Library?
Any eligible patron of this library may borrow eBooks. You must have a valid Chatham, NJ library card number in order to register and borrow eBooks from this system.
How long do I have to read an eBook in Chathams eBook Library?
Each eBook is marked with its borrow period. Typically it is 3 to 14 days. After that time the eBook file expires and is unreadable.
Do I have to return the eBook?
No, there is no "return" as in a physical library. When the eBook expires it is considered to be returned to the library and becomes available for other patrons.
What if I'm finished with an eBook early, can I then return it?
No, not at this time. You have it until it expires. There's no way we could ensure it was actually removed from your computer and PDA.
How many eBooks can I borrow at a time?
You may borrow 3 books at a time. After you borrow 3 eBooks you must wait until one expires before borrowing again.
Can I borrow the eBook again after it expires?
Yes, if no one else is on the waiting list for it.
